PROFILE
IMCOPA - Importação, Exportação e Indústria de Óleos Ltda.

IMCOPA is a family-owned Brazilian soy crusher founded in the late 1960s. All of its crushing plants are based in the state of Paraná and the vast majority of soybeans processed originate from that state. The company’s product range includes soy meal of the traditional protein levels as well as protein concentrates at 60% and higher. But IMCOPA is also a high-profile supplier of oils and lecithin for the food industry. The crushing volume in 2006 was 2.4 million tons.

Most of IMCOPA’s production is exported to Europe. In recognition of the preferences of European private consumers, IMCOPA received ‘Non-GMO’™ certification in 1999, assuring a max. 0.1% GMO content in all of its products. Since 2006, the company also carries ProTerra™ certification reflecting the full extent of the Basel Criteria for Responsible Soy Production launched in 2004 by RTRS members WWF and Coop Switzerland. These measures have caused IMCOPA to experience an unprecedented growth period.

It is the company’s objective to enable its clientele to make claims such as “Non-GMO” and “sustainable” on products made with or from IMCOPA ingredients, including animal products. This is only possible because of the fully documented traceability all IMCOPA products come with.

Besides the head office in Araucária, Brazil, IMCOPA operates subsidiaries in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, and in Geneva, Switzerland.
