METRO AG has drawn up a purchasing policy for its own brands. Aim is to source products sustainably in terms of economic, environmental and social impacts. They have set up sourcing policies for fish, palm oil, for instance, and have a commitment on cage free eggs for their Own Brand assortment. In October 2017, Metro was awarded Industry Leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the third time. They are in the process of setting up a Soy Sourcing Policy, and would like to make use of the knowledge and network of RTRS to work further on their Soy Sourcing policy.
