Greenergy was founded in 1992 to supply fuels with a reduced environmental impact. It

is now the UK’s largest independent oil company with over a 10% share of the UK road

fuel market and around half of total biofuels market. As at June 2008, the company was

supplying over 100 million litres of fuel every week with an annual turnover of £3.9 billion

(including duty).

All the road fuel that Greenergy supplies contains biofuel, either bioethanol or biodiesel.

The biodiesel is either blended from biodiesels purchased from other producers or

manufactured in Greenergy ’s own biodiesel plant, and as such Greenergy buys both

crude soy oil and soy methyl ester. Greenergy’s biodiesel production capacity in the UK

has recently expanded to 200,000 tonnes per annum.
