Why certifying under the RTRS Standard? Print E-mail

The Round Table on Responsible Soy Association (RTRS) is a global platform made up of the main stakeholders of the soy value chain with the common objective of promoting the production of responsible soy through cooperation and open dialogue with the parties involved for making it economically feasible, socially beneficial and environmentally appropriate.

As a result of the effort of the Production, Industry and Civil Society stakeholders involved in the soy value chain the   RTRS Estándar- Versión 1.0 was developed.

The RTRS Standard has a certification scheme comprised of a series of elements that differentiate it from any other scheme related to the production of soy. Its main elements are:

- The RTRS Standard is applicable at a global level. At present, the most widely involved production regions are South America, India and China.

-The RTRS Standard is applicable to the production of soy for different purposes: animal feed, human consumption, biofuels.

-The RTRS Standard is adequate for producers of all types and sizes. For small producers, there are mechanisms in place for applying for Group Certification.

-The RTRS Standard applies to all types of production: GM, conventional, and organic production.

-The RTRS Standard meets the global goals of sustainability, thus assuring access to high value markets such as the main soy-importing European countries.
